I am going to Washington D.C in June from the 8- 13. It is going to be my first time. I wish some of my friends went as well, but they aren't. I am going there for the Young Leadership Confrence. I can't wait. It is exciting but frightening as well.

I have been to D.C. before. I really enjoyed the Lincoln Memorial. I also thought the nightlife was quite entertaining. I may be returning there this summer! I hope you have a great time!

I went to washington just a week ago and it was a lot of fun. The Jr. NYLC was a program i attended. it was for 6 days. in those days, we learned the leadership qualities and the leaders that obtain them. we had debates and trials. we even did a project in three short days about peer preasure: drugs and alcohol use.
we worked in groups most of the time and learned how to respect everyones ideas.

I made four friends and one best friend. my friends were Kimberly, Christine R. (a different one), amd Ariel. My room mates were Kimberly and Christine. Kim was a 7th grader going to 8th. she had black, silky and smooth hair. She came from New Mexico. Christine, was a 5th grader going to 6th. She had short black hair. she is from Maryland. Areil was the roomate of my best friend Racheal. Areil talked a lot. She had blond, rough and curly hair. she too was tall. She was from virginia. Finally, my best friend Racheal was a fifth grader. She came from Colorado and had a younger sister. she is a few in. shorter than me. Her hair were light brown. silky and short.

We went to many places. Each day we traveled in coach buses to see historical places. We even had a sleepover at a science museum. it was an awe some experince. Some of the places we went to were:
* Newseum
* National potrait Galllery
* The big three (lincoln memorial, korean war and vietnam memorial)
* Library of Congress
*Supreme Court
* Saw white house and etc.
We had a lot of fun, but the only problem was that we had to walk for hours in the sun. When we would return to the hotel, we would be swimming a=in a pool of sweat.

In my opinion, the best trip was to the Newseum. We saw a 4-D movie there. It was awesome. It was 3- D plus, the chairs moved. It made the movie come alive. We even saw the Berlin Wall that was brought from germany. This wall seperated Berlin into tfour parts. Two of them were the east and west. Thr west side was democratic and east was communism. The Democratic got tired of the seperation and protested to break wall. Fortunately, it was broken down in November. The next time you visit Washington D.C., check out the newsuem.
P.S. Whoever got the letter to go, should have gone!! it was worth $2,000. They supply you the food, room, tickets and etc.

There are other oppurtunities to come to this program again. the next one is in Boston were they will talk about the revolutionary war. There, we are going to have a sleep over on a war ship. It is going to be awesome. I can't wait to go. No one else except for the people who were in this program are allowed to go. That is sad. Oh well, wish you luck for next time. After this they come to your state for 4 days. Their program goes on until 11th and twelth grade. That's a good thing because i'm going every year.

Kiranpreet - great to hear about your travels! I am so glad you had the opportunity. You really deserve it. You are very bright, and you have worked very hard.

Do you think you will go to Boston? I have never been there. Try to learn as much as possible this summer so you are a step ahead at Gateway. Read nonfiction, and find some great websites that are fun, as well as informative. I see great things in your future!
